Welcome to Project Darkwater! We are an up-and-coming MMORPG run entirely as a non-profit organization. Our roots are tied to a now-defunct MMORPG, and we intend on bringing a modern twist on our beloved game to fans across the globe!

What MMORPG is Project Darkwater based off of?

Project Darkwater is based from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Online, or POTCO. The game opened in late 2007, and closed its doors six years later in September 2013.

Is Project Darkwater like Pirates Online (2007)?

While the Project Darkwater team goes through great lengths to recreate Pirates of the Caribbean Online, our project is intended to be a modernized revival, or "as it could be" had it stayed open. All mentions or ties to Disney intellectual property have been removed from the game in the interest of keeping our work safe from any legal repercussions in response to direct use of their assets.

When was Project Darkwater made?

The original team of five people began building the foundation for our beloved game in April of 2025, and by June of 2025 we have been recognized as a non-profit corporation in the United States.

When will Project Darkwater open to the public?

There is currently no opening date for Project Darkwater, as we begin development, there will be updates posted across our social media platforms.

Can I sign up for Project Darkwater right now?

Will you have to pay to play Project Darkwater?

Not a penny! Project Darkwater is committed to providing a thorough MMO experience to its players without expecting a cent in return.
